Trying out High-Poly
~20 Hours, over the course of 3 weeks
3DS Max for modeling

First time doing high-poly modeling (the whole thing is about 144,000 tri, after one TurboSmooth iteration), and I think it came out pretty well. I started with a basic shape, and then just spent time adding in small details as floating geometry. Maybe later I’ll try turning this into a low-poly w/ a Normal Map.

Sci-Fi Door

Personal Project
~20 Hours, over the course of 3 weeks
3DS Max for modeling

Again, busy on other things the past few months. Kept getting ideas for this one, but feel into the trap of spending a lot of time trying to flesh out an idea before deciding I didn’t like it.

Postbox

Personal Project
~10 Hours, over the course of 3 days
3DS Max for modeling
Photoshop for Texturing

I’ve been spending a lot of free time over the last 2 months working on something big, but decided that I should take a break from it and just churn out something small, quick and simple.

CAPTCHAs added

I’ve been having some problems with Spambots in comments, so I finally decided to check out CAPTCHA plugins for Wordpress. Settled on simpleCAPTCHA, and it seems to work fine. The code can be a little hard to make out, so I might be temped to change plugins in the future…

Steampunk Sniper Rifle

Personal Project
~14 Hours, over the course of 5 days
3DS Max

I decided to make something somewhat higher poly and not texture it. Didn’t have as much time to work as it as I had wanted, and this month has been kind of rough on me.

It’s a Steampunk-styled Sniper Rifle. The Magazine, as well as miniature gas-tanks are hidden inside the body of the rifle by a sliding cover. I also decided that the scope should look like a telescope.
